TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE HDF LAMINATE FLOORING

Embossment in Register

When manufacturing this flooring, a special matrix is used, which pushes an embossed pattern onto the flooring surface, with this pattern exactly repeating the grain of wood fibers on a decorative paper. This type of embossment is also called synchronized. When manufacturing the flooring with this embossment, a special matrix is used, which pushes under pressure an embossed pattern onto the laminboard surface, with this pattern exactly repeating the pattern of a decorative paper. As a result, we have a purely realistic flooring. Not only can you see a wood knot, but also sense it tactually. And the deeper the surface patterning, the more pronounced the tree rings. A trick of light and shadow gives a complete illusion of the natural wood.

Multilevel Embossment

To make the flooring look more similar to the wood processed by the method of hand-scraping, a special press caul is used, which has the 3D relief imitating the effect of finishing the surface with a plane. The effect of hand-scraping is achieved by using the multilevel embossment technology in the production process. The HDF plate underlying the laminate flooring is subjected to pressure, as a result of which the flooring front side acquires a peculiar wavy surface. The flooring produced using this press caul has an expressive texture. It gives the impression that this product is hand-made and each board has its unique embossed pattern.

Moisture Resistance

The locking connections of Profield Laminate Flooring are processed with a special wax compound. This chemical is deemed safe, securely protecting, at the same time, the plate from getting wet. Profield Laminate Flooring is characterized by an increased degree of the moisture resistance. Its surface consists of a waterproof layer that prevents moisture from penetrating into the plate. The only place where the moisture may penetrate is the areas of fastening of the laminboards. Therefore, the locks for Profield Flooring are processed with a special wax compound, which is known not to let water through. This chemical is deemed safe for human use, not emitting any harmful substances into the environment. The wax impregnation applied to the panels’ locking connections securely protects the plate from getting wet, thus making the flooring processed with this compound water-resistant.

Laminate Flooring Groove

The laminate groove is designed not only to enhance its aesthetic characteristics, but also to improve its structural and operational properties. It is sometimes simply necessary. For example, the flooring with complex relief and a height difference is inevitably produced with a groove due to the fact that this height difference will certainly form unevenness at the places of the laminboards’ fastening. Thus, at the place of fastening, one plate will differ in height from another.
For example, the surfaces, including “the synchronized embossment in register” with its deep volume effect or “the handscraped embossment”, are simply technologically impossible without grooves. Therefore, to compensate for the height difference formed due to complex surface relief at the boards’ edges, a groove is used. It not only flattens the panel’s edges, but also reduces the risk of the chip formation at the edge that has the maximum load.
Grooves may vary in shape and depth. In the production process for Profield Flooring, the U-groove is used.
The U-groove is produced by pressing small gaps at the laminboard’s edges, with an upper lamination layer preserved. The depth of this groove does not exceed two millimeters.
It is thought that the groove laminate is not practical and those gaps would constantly be clogged during operation with dirt that is not easy to clean. But in reality, this is not the case. Actually, those gaps between the lamellae are not so big, and processing the bevels with dirt-repellent and waterproofing compounds negates the problem of floor cleaning.
